Protiviti’s 20-Year Journey of Always Looking Ahead

History Factory partnered with global consulting firm Protiviti to strengthen its team’s sense of connection, purpose and pride by: 

  • Developing a plan for the firm’s 20th anniversary that outlined its goals, strategy, theme, creative direction and activations
  • Establishing a narrative blueprint for how to tell the Protiviti Story
  • Producing resources and storytelling activations for a year-long program, including video content and custom web-based digital experiences, branded as iStory

Celebrating Achievements and Shaping the Future

Launching and growing a thriving global business is no easy feat, but that’s exactly what the leaders and people at Protiviti have accomplished. Founded by a team of executives in the aftermath of the historic Arthur Andersen and Enron collapse, Protiviti quickly distinguished itself as a firm capable of tackling complex risk management and compliance challenges with a tailored and collaborative approach. As the firm’s 20th anniversary approached, its leaders viewed the milestone as a perfect opportunity to capture and celebrate the passion, risks and experiences that enabled Protiviti’s founding and success.

History Factory began working with Protiviti to develop a plan for making the most of the 20th anniversary opportunity. With a focus on employees, new and future hires, alumni and current and prospective clients, objectives included:

  • Preserving Protiviti’s history to canonize key stories and facts
  • Reinforcing the firm’s unique culture and values globally
  • Creating a culture of storytelling at all levels of the firm
  • Strengthening brand perception among current and prospective clients and talent
  • Creating experiences that would live beyond the anniversary

Energizing a Culture Through Storytelling

One of the advantages and unique considerations of young companies like Protiviti is that their history is alive. Protiviti still has founders, leaders and employees who have been a part of its entire history, so capturing, preserving and sharing their experiences and stories was one of the program’s primary goals.

In an initial phase, we conducted oral histories with key Protiviti figures, which provided us with foundational research to develop rich content. We then launched iStory, a dynamic digital experience with story-gathering features to collect experiences from Protiviti people worldwide. iStory also included gamification and content illustrating the firm’s diverse service offerings, expertise, client success stories and impact.

Using footage from the oral history sessions and iStory, the team produced a video library for a series of in-person conferences and online events. We also developed a robust content bank: a digital collection of significant stories organized by subject matter for marketing, communications and business development during the anniversary year and beyond.

Protiviti’s 20th anniversary delivered on what its leaders set out to achieve. The program captured and communicated the story of a group of entrepreneurs and professionals who dared to be different and created their own unique culture and approach to business in the global consulting industry. The firm’s 20th anniversary engaged its global workforce and client base through storytelling.

Celebrating Achievements and Shaping the Future

An anniversary is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to plan for the future. For Protiviti’s, we delivered more than 560 minutes of content and roughly 50 videos, providing content the organization could use to rally teams around its core values and mission in the future.
