The papers of Jeff Bingaman, a 30-year U.S. senator from New Mexico, have moved to their permanent home at the University of New Mexico’s Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections. The History Factory inventoried the Senator’s legislative files to prepare them for use. The series consisted of more than 800 linear feet of materials that had been maintained by the Senator’s legislative aides.
The university will place Senator Bingaman’s collection online for scholarly research. Some of the senator’s personal effects will be displayed at Western New Mexico University in his hometown of Silver City.
The History Factory congratulates Senator Bingaman on his 30-year tenure in the U.S. Senate and is proud to have partnered with him in the development of his collection.
